    Illinois Tech Health Plan Members, Changes to COVID Testing Coverage Are Coming

    The COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE) will be expiring May 11, 2023. Due to the PHE's expiration, many health plans will be making changes to their coverage of COVID-19 testing: COVID-19 Diagnostic Tests, which are covered through the health benefit, will continue to be covered at $0 member cost share through at least the end of 2023; medical visits associated with COVID-19 will no longer be free; and over-the-counter (OTC) COVID-19 antigen tests will still be free to members.

    Generative AI chatbots (ChatGPT in particular) can be asked to generate citations or references, but when they do the end result may contain errors or be completely false. If you encounter writing sources, citations or URLs you think may be fictional, Galvin librarians can help. We can even check if a link or URL was ever functional, or if it’s merely broken and/or outdated. Send your suspect items to us at library@iit.edu and we’ll use our expertise to evaluate them for you.

    Faculty, RSVP for Commencement, to Be Held May 13 at McCormick Place

    In a shift from past practices for Commencement, the 2022-2023 Main Ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 9 a.m. at McCormick Place, Hall B. College Ceremonies will follow the Main Ceremony and also will take place in McCormick Place, Hall B. This year there will be two combined College Ceremonies where degrees will be conferred for three of the university’s colleges. Ph.D. hooding also will take place during the College Ceremonies, with faculty advisers having the usual opportunity to hood their graduates.

    Hinge Health Available for Illinois Tech Health Plan Members Experiencing Joint Pain

    Illinois Tech is offering a new back, knee, hip, neck, shoulder and other joint pain program to you and your eligible family members at no cost (click here to sign up). Once enrolled in the program, Hinge Health will create a customized care plan just for you. From there, your personal health coach or physical therapist will guide you through exercise therapy in the Hinge Health app. Plus, it takes only 45 minutes per week, so it easily fits into your schedule.
